The Dualshock 3 wireless controller for the Playstation 3 is an excellent controller that now serves as the standard controller for the PS3. Originally the PS3 came with a controller that looked and felt nearly identical to the DualShock 3 and it was known as the Sixaxis. It was famous for having a kind of motion control tracking system that was not as advanced or as widely used by developers as the similar system on the Wii.
What the Sixaxis was lacking was rumble controls and due to a lawsuit that Sony had with Immersion Technologies over a patent. Gamers complained and eventually Sony caved to the pressure. Now the Sixaxis is mostly a forgotten memory and the DualShock 3 is the standard controller.
What makes the DualShock 3 controller so different than say a PS2 controller is that it is a wireless controller that uses bluetooth to communicate with the PS3. It also has its own internal battery so unlike the Xbox 360, you don't have to replace batteries constantly. This is a big plus for many people. It also has a nice USB charging cable available to it.
Pricing for the DualShock 3 wireless controller sits around $40-45 depending on the retailer.
